B is for Borrow My Brain!

Welcome back, Dear Readers.

What’s holding you back from living an extraordinary life? Is it that amazing new job you don’t have time to apply for? That book you can’t seem to pitch to publishers? Or maybe it’s an awesome opportunity that always seems to lie just beyond your reach.

Whatever it is, I’m here to help.

For those of you who don’t know me well, I have many years of experience as a professional writer, editor, marketer, fundraiser, publicist, journalist, and event planner. I’ve written many cover and query letters, refreshed resumes, publicized everything from museum exhibits to cancer fundraisers and album releases, created social media campaigns and successfully managed dozens of events.

Why am I telling you this?

I’m prepared to let one lucky winner borrow my brain for an hour for FREE (something my clients pay $100-200 for). If you win, you can put me to work doing any of the following:

  • Writing a press release
  • Writing a query letter
  • Writing a cover letter
  • Writing a back cover or book blurb
  • Editing your synopsis or plot summary
  • Reviewing your novel
  • Writing an elevator pitch
  • Writing a bio
  • Writing a speech
  • Editing and fixing up a resume
  • Editing pretty much anything!
  • Giving advice on how to market and promote an event or product
  • Writing a journalism story you just don’t feel like writing
  • Writing a blog post
  • Heck, if you’re in the same city, I’ll even work on your jab with you. Or your cross. Or whatever. (I’ve been a Muay Thai kick boxer for too long to admit.)
  • Or…(insert your idea here). Don’t be afraid to get creative!
The things I won’t do: Anything political in nature, hate speech, or anything that is illegal or strongly against my morals and ethics. But I know you guys would never ask me to do anything like that!
What’s the catch?
There is none. As you may have read in yesterday’s blog post, I want to be Tobago’s Island Connoisseur, which is a phenomenal opportunity. To enter the “Borrow My Brain” contest, all you have to do is watch and share my entry video, which you can do by clicking here.

You will receive one entry every time you do the following:

  1. Tweet this video (one entry per tweet)
  2. Share it with your Facebook Followers (one entry per share)
  3. Like it on YouTube (one entry)
  4. Add a positive comment on YouTube (one entry)
  5. Pin this video (one entry)

Please tell me in the comments…if you won, what would you use your hour for?

I’m rooting for you! What an amazing opportunity and you did fabulous on your entry. The giveaway is a wonderful idea. I’ll share, but I will pass the opportunity to win to someone else. I’m not anywhere near ready for any of that stuff you’ve mentioned πŸ™‚

I’m cheering for you, and would be happy to help support you even without the incentive of borrowing your brain (in fact, I tweeted your video link yesterday before this post was out. See how much I <3 you? LOL). But given the contest… well I won’t say no to a chance to get you to write some back cover copy for me πŸ˜‰

I’ve tweeted your video twice (once was an RT) and liked and commented on it on YouTube. So far πŸ˜‰

@ Lady Jai: you never know. You might get halfway into the A-Z Challenge and want a night off. πŸ˜‰

@ Rhonda: I adore you too, I hope you know! Thanks so much for the support.

Thanks, Toby! Feel free to enter. Even though you’re a writer, there must be something mundane you don’t feel like writing. Or perhaps you’d like a review? πŸ™‚

I tweeted your video & used a few hashtags so that it will be retweeted. I’m excited for you!

Hey – those hashtags worked. As I type this, it’s already been favorited, as well as RT’d twice. Wheee!

As for how I would “pick your brain” … I would ask for help/advice on publicity for my book “Unexpected Texas.”

If only I had the time…

But if anyone wants to pay for my brain, it’s available for rent by the hour. πŸ™‚
